Natalie Wenham (Registered MBACP)

My background

I worked in the Accountancy profession for 19 years before taking a career break in 2016. With a family history and personal experience of mental health issues, I felt I had the empathy and compassion required to re-train and become a Counsellor. I undertook two training placements as part of my qualification, gaining valuable experience working with bereaved teenagers for the NHS, and working with adults at Northamptonshire Mind.

After qualifying, I stayed on as a volunteer for a further year at Northamptonshire Mind, working with a variety of presenting issues. Whilst there, I developed my niche working with Anger Management - I find it hugely rewarding delivering short-term, solution-focused interventions as I can see the real and noticeable change it can bring for my clients.

Qualifications and membership

I am a qualified counsellor, with a Level 4 ‘Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling’ (CPCAB). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I adhere to their ‘Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions 2018’, which is a set of guidelines that ensure their members all work to the same high standards https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/

I am fully insured, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office for data protection purposes (please refer to the Privacy policy page for further information).

As a member of the BACP, I am required to attend regular clinical supervision sessions to ensure I always work ethically and safely with clients. You can be assured that I will act in your best interests throughout our therapeutic relationship.

Additional training

I am a firm believer in life-long learning, and regularly undertake additional training courses to maintain and further my skills and knowledge in various counselling-related subjects.

In addition to my diploma, I completed an 80-hour training course about working online and by telephone. Other training courses I have attended include:
