What is online counselling?
Online counselling, also known as remote therapy or teletherapy, is a way for clients to access professional support via the internet. Instead of meeting in person, counselling sessions take place through a secure video platform or text-based chat room at a mutually convenient time.
I offer video-based therapy through Doxy.Me and Google Meet, ensuring a safe and confidential space for our sessions. When a new client signs up to work with me, they will receive an email with a link to my online meeting room, allowing them to connect seamlessly at the scheduled time.

Why choose online therapy?
There are a number of benefits to online counselling, including:
Convenience and accessibility – Online counselling allows you to receive support from the comfort of your own home, making it ideal for those with busy schedules, mobility issues, or limited access to in-person services.
Comfort and privacy – Some people find it easier to open up when they are in a familiar environment, without the pressure of a face-to-face setting.
Expanded options – You are not limited to local therapists, which means you can find a counsellor who specialises in exactly what you need, no matter where they are based.
Flexible scheduling – With online counselling, appointments can often be more flexible, accommodating different lifestyles.
Reduced costs and time commitment – You can save time and money by eliminating travel, and some online services may be more affordable than in-person sessions.
Continuity of care – If you travel often or relocate, online counselling ensures you can maintain the therapeutic relationship without disruption.

What is Person-Centred Counselling?
The ‘Person-Centred Approach’ (PCA) to counselling was developed in the 1940s and 1950s by American Psychologist, Carl Rogers. At its heart is the belief that people are essentially good and, even under the harshest circumstances, are striving toward personal growth and fulfilment - an idea known as ‘self-actualisation.'
The Person-Centred Approach fosters a supportive environment where individuals can freely explore their thoughts and emotions. Instead of the therapist directing the conversation or offering solutions, the focus is on self-discovery and personal growth.
Three core principles guide this approach, ensuring a deeply supportive and empowering experience.
- Unconditional Positive Regard (acceptance) – The therapist accepts and values the client without judgment.
- Empathy – The therapist genuinely understands and connects with the client’s feelings.
- Congruence (genuineness) – The therapist is open, honest, and authentic in their interactions.
This approach believes that, given the right conditions, people can be empowered to take charge of their own well-being, allowing them to find the ability within themselves to heal, grow, and reach their full potential.
